If you are a business the Electricity at Work Regulations requires you to 'maintain all electrical systems.' This includes the testing of the fixed wiring of an installation as well as all Portable Appliance Testing.

Although the periods vary depending on the type of building and its use, generally testing is carried out every 3 to 5 years.
